Stephen DeCesare majored in music and theater at Rhode Island College, but it pretty much a self-taught composer.

"There is not much to learn that hasn't already been done by the masters—Mozart, Beethoven, Puccini, especially. I look at what everyone else has done, plus whatever pops into this crazed head of mine. The drippier and more shmaltzy, the better. If it makes people happy, that's all I care about. If I can make them cry and touch their souls, that's even better."

His composition Our Lady of Fatima Opera had it's world premiere in October of 1999 in Providence and has been preformed in other theaters in the U.S. and is being considered for theaters in various parts of Europe. His music has been broadcast on radio stations around the U.S. and Canada.
