Love

Love always has an open hand,
It does not cling to hearts as chains
Nor does a lock and key demand,
But jealousy and strife disdains.
Love always has a cheerful face,
Believing all that's good and true,
And overlooking faults with grace,
It seeks a way to start anew.
Love always has a trusting heart
And never waivers in the night.
When every other hope departs
It stands unshaken in the light.
Love always points to Heaven's gate.
The darkest evil it atones
And casting off a high estate
It humbly leads the loved one home.
